WynBay Power is dedicated to providing access to sporting and recreational opportunities for disadvantaged Male & Females 16+ of Hobson’s Bay and Wyndham and works with a range of agencies who help people experiencing homelessness, drug and alcohol issues, disability, mental health issues, and social and economic isolation. This is a free community initiative, which enables players of low income and disadvantage to participate in recreational activities at no cost. First training session April 6th at 1:00pm - Soldiers reserve, Duncans Rd, Werribee.

Victoria University Community Initiatives Program

Victoria University Community Initiatives Program (CIP) has begun the delivery of new short courses for 2011, in particular - Cert 1 in Vocational Preparation, Cert 2 in Information Technology, Cert 2 in Building & Construction, Cert 2 in Horticulture and Cert 2 in Hospitality.
The courses are designed to introduce students to a wide range of possible career paths whilst gaining a recognised credential which meets AQTF Guidelines for Certificate qualifications. Pilot Project: Supporting The Health & Wellbeing of Disengaged Karen Youth 2011
|
|
|
|
Foundation House is running a pilot project working with the Karen community in Western Melbourne. The focus is on the health and wellbeing of disengaged Karen young people (aged 16-25). Participants wanted: We are running two group programs for Karen young men (16-25) who are experiencing difficulties, disengaging from community and education/ vocational pathways or engaged in ‘at risk’ behaviours such as misusing alcohol and drugs to cope and fighting. Interpreter will be available. The program is to help the young men to develop a greater self awareness including identity, body and emotional awareness. At the end of each program there will be an outdoor camp.
When: The first in May and the second in July .

This is a 2 hour presentation that is designed to support ITABS, Group training Associations, LLENs and Employer Associations who are interested in finding about new and innovative ways of making contact with young people through careers practitioners. Some of the topics to be covered include:
• Understanding the Career Development Landscape.
• What do Quality Career Development materials look like?
• Using Career audit collateral tools to produce materials that work.

New & Emerging Communities Youth Leadership Program
|
|
|
|
Hobsons Bay City Council is holding its fifth New and Emerging Communities Youth Leadership Program.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people aged 16-25 years who are new to Australia (<5 years) to connect with their local community, make new friends and learn valuable skills that will assist them to be active citizens and take up leadership opportunities should they so wish. The program is free and includes a leadership camp in the April school holidays as well as five Saturday workshops/excursions throughout May and June, followed by a graduation ceremony in July where they will be presented with certificates by the Mayor.
