WynBay LLEN - Industry & Business Advisory Group (IBAG)

 

WynBay LLEN's IBAG (Industry Business Advisory Group) has been formed to help drive strategic and systematic change in the area of business, school and community partnerships.  The first IBAG meeting was held on March 30th. IBAG is comprised of  Tony Sirsen -Downer EDI, Adam Siegel -Metricon Group,    Peter Murphy -Alex Fraser Group, Doug McLean -Sims Metal, Steve Turner -OMCS International, Peter Williams -Toyota Tsusho, Phoebe Smith standing in for Amanda Solly -Murray Goulburn, Loes Westerbeek-Veld -Transfield, Michael Hollowood -Collins & Co, Richard Ainley -Mercy Health. IBAG will continue to expand its membership over the coming months. IBAG will focus on improving parent engagement in schools, career development of young people, influencing vocational education and training curriculum in schools to help achieve the strategic goals of WynBay LLEN.

Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria (VFBV) State Championships 2011

 

The VFBV State Championships 2011 is a FREE event being held at Werribee Park on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th of April. The championship celebrates and showcases not only the skills and efforts of volunteer fire fighters  but also the fantastic efforts of the many other emergency services that work together to keep us all safe and secure. There will be lots of trucks and equipment, from the latest technology to some old-time engines, to gaze at. There will be food for sale on the day and on Saturday morning there is a craft market within walking distance on the Werribee Park grounds. For more information, please click here.

WYPIN's 'Challenging Racism' Resource Now Available!

 

The Western Young People’s Independent Network (WYPIN) has recently developed a resource called Challenging Racism – a guide for young people. This resource is for young people and aims to provide practical strategies about ways of addressing racism in the community. The resource was successfully launched on Monday 21st March and is now ready for distribution in the community. ESL Supported VCAL

 

In term 2, Wyndham Community and Education Centre Inc. will be starting an ESL supported VCAL program for young adults aged 20 – 24 for eligible migrant, refugee and humanitarian entrant students whose first language is not English. Foundation, Intermediate and Senior levels of VCAL will be offered. This program will complement the current program offered to students aged 15 – 20. The VCAL program includes:
• English as a Second Language (ESL)   • Literacy
• Numeracy                                         • Work Related Skills
• Personal Development Skills               • Industry skills (VET)
